Each year, the City coordinates the City of Rockingham Australian Citizen of the Year Awards to recognise the significant and positive contributions of individuals and groups within the Rockingham community.
The awards consist of four categories:
- Community Citizen of the Year
- Young Community Citizen of the Year (16 – 30 years of age)
- Senior Community Citizen of the Year (Over 65 years of age)
- Active Citizenship – Group or Event
The awards are presented at the City of Rockingham Australian Citizen of the Year Ceremony.
Nominations
Nominations for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards open Monday 1 September 2026 and close 31 October 2026.
Nominations can be submitted on the Community Citizen of the Year website. The site contains more information on the criteria for the awards and also how to nominate.

Community Citizen winner: Patchara Weggers
Patchara has made a significant contribution to Rockingham through her long‑standing leadership in education and community service. As Board Chair of Rockingham Senior High School, she championed key initiatives, funded student opportunities and helped secure more than $60 million to redevelop local schools, while her work with the Palm Beach Rotary Club further strengthened support for community groups and projects.

Young Community Citizen winner: Rayne Mansfield
Rayne is a standout young leader whose energy and insight have strengthened youth engagement, creative placemaking and community development across Rockingham. Her contributions to groups such as the Rockingham Youth Reference Group, Town Teams, Youth Parliament and the RAC Ignite Program highlight her commitment to elevating young voices and building more connected, vibrant communities.
Senior Community Citizen winner: Lynette Sellin
Lynette has been a valued member of the Autumn Centre team for 28 years, beginning as an assistant cook in 1998 before going on to lead the kitchen with skill and heart. Her reliability, professionalism and genuine care have created a warm, welcoming environment for older community members, and her long‑term dedication has made a lasting difference in the lives of countless residents, making her a truly deserving recipient of this award.
Active Citizenship winner: Country Women’s Association Rockingham
The CWA Rockingham Branch embodies the spirit of active citizenship, strengthening the community through kindness, creativity and unwavering service. Their impactful initiatives, including the Lunchbox Heroes program, demonstrate how consistent acts of care can transform lives and make them a truly deserving Active Citizen of the Year Award winner.
