Public art is an important component of place-making and of creating artistic, welcoming and family-friendly spaces. It helps foster a strong community identity, pride and sense of place across a variety of cultural settings. Our public art gives an artistic voice to Rockingham’s history, community and future directions. A strong sense of place, guided by iconic public art, plays an important part in our cultural development, contributes to urban renewal and design, and supports our tourism industry.

We maintain a diverse and vibrant program of commissioning and purchasing public art to encourage a sense of civic identity and creative integration with public reserves, parks, buildings and cultural facilities.

By combining a range of statuary, sculpture, community art projects, street art, murals and temporary installations placed in major civic thoroughfares, parks, beachside locations and unexpected corners of the City, the City of Rockingham Public Art Collection provides a wide variety of viewing experiences across Rockingham.

An Art Collection Policy has been developed to guide the development and management of our cultural assets, including the continued growth of our Public Art Collection.
